Abbey Equigel with Tape is a broad-spectrum horse wormer combining moxidectin and praziquantel for control of susceptible roundworms, tapeworm and bots. Its registered parasite spectrum includes encysted stages of small strongyles, making it a useful option within a strategic equine parasite-control program.
The low-volume gel is supplied in a ready-to-use syringe calibrated according to bodyweight. One 14.4g syringe treats a horse weighing up to 700kg.

Encysted Small Strongyles
Equigel with Tape:

Its egg reappearance period for small strongyles is at least 14 weeks. Within an appropriate strategic parasite-control program, retreatment intervals for small strongyles may extend to approximately 14–16 weeks.
This extended interval applies specifically to small strongyle control and should not be interpreted as equal-duration protection against every parasite listed on the label.
Dosage and Administration
Administer orally at the registered dose rate of:
• 0.4mg moxidectin per kilogram of bodyweight
• 2.5mg praziquantel per kilogram of bodyweight
The syringe is calibrated according to the horse’s bodyweight and delivers the recommended dose when correctly adjusted.
• One syringe treats one horse weighing up to 700kg
• One syringe contains sufficient product to treat two 350kg ponies when each dose is measured and administered separately
• Horses weighing more than 700kg require additional gel from another syringe
Accurately determine the horse’s bodyweight using scales or a suitable weigh tape before dosing.
Administration Instructions

Set the syringe calibration for the horse’s accurately determined bodyweight.

Ensure the horse’s mouth is free from feed.

Insert the syringe into the side of the mouth through the gap between the front and back teeth.

Deposit the gel towards the rear of the tongue.

Raise the horse’s head briefly to help ensure the complete dose is swallowed.

Check that the horse has retained the full dose.
Do not underdose or exceed the correctly calibrated amount.
Important Dosing Precautions
DO NOT ADMINISTER THE FULL SYRINGE TO HORSES UNDER 500KG.
Use with caution in foals and smaller breeds. Carefully calibrate the syringe according to bodyweight and avoid overdosing.
Although Equigel with Tape may be used in foals over four weeks of age when used as directed, accurate bodyweight determination and dosing are particularly important in young or small horses.
Keep Away from Dogs
Prevent dogs from consuming spilt gel or accessing used syringes. Excessive consumption may cause toxicity.
Parasite-Control Program
Resistance may develop to any anthelmintic chemical. Treatment selection and timing should be based on veterinary advice, management conditions and monitoring such as faecal egg counts.
The extended small-strongyle egg reappearance period may reduce treatment frequency within a properly designed strategic program. It does not remove the need for monitoring or appropriate tapeworm management.
