Dressage saddle pads have a straighter and generally longer cut than all-purpose or jumping pads, helping them follow the shape of a dressage saddle’s long flaps. Individual designs may include shaped toplines, girth loops, retaining straps, decorative trims and linings intended to assist with comfort or moisture management. Choose a pad that extends beyond the saddle without creating excessive bulk beneath the rider’s leg. It should sit evenly, remain clear of the horse’s spine and withers, and lie smoothly without wrinkles. Ensure the girth loops and retaining straps align with your saddle and do not pull the pad forwards or down onto the withers.

Wash and dry saddle pads according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Remove accumulated hair and sweat regularly, and inspect the fabric, filling, seams and bindings for wear.
