Long training leads provide additional working distance but require careful rope management. Keep excess rope organised and clear of the horse’s legs, and never wrap or coil a lead around your hand, arm or body. Chain leads can apply concentrated pressure and should be used only by handlers familiar with their correct positioning and action. Specialised swimming leads should be used only in suitable conditions by experienced handlers.
