Choose a rug according to the weather, the horse’s coat, shelter, activity level and individual needs. Lightweight and breathable styles can provide coverage during warmer conditions, while waterproof outer rugs and filled designs are available for cooler or wet weather. Waterproof, water-resistant and showerproof are not interchangeable terms, so always check the individual product specifications before purchasing.

Follow the manufacturer’s measuring guide and check that the rug allows comfortable movement through the shoulders, sits securely at the chest and remains correctly positioned over the back.
