Use the manufacturer’s sizing guide and check that each boot is fitted to the correct leg and in the correct orientation. Travel boots should remain secure without slipping, rubbing or restricting the horse’s movement. Introduce unfamiliar boots before the journey so the horse can become accustomed to walking in them. Inspect the legs after transport, clean the boots regularly and replace any item with damaged fastenings, compressed padding or torn fabric. Travel boots provide a protective barrier but cannot prevent every transport-related injury.
