Check the horse regularly while cooling down and remove or change the rug when it becomes damp or is no longer appropriate for the conditions.

Cooler rugs are not necessarily waterproof and should not be treated as substitutes for turnout or winter rugs. Always consider the temperature, weather, the horse’s coat and whether it has been clipped when deciding how long a rug should remain in place.
