Keratex Hoof Hardener is a hoof treatment formulated to strengthen and protect weak, brittle, cracked or damaged hoof horn and soft, sensitive soles.

Rather than forming a varnish or surface coating, the formula is absorbed into the hoof and works by cross-linking keratins and proteins within the horn. This helps improve the strength of the existing hoof structure while allowing the hoof to function naturally.

Suitable for shod and unshod horses, Keratex Hoof Hardener may be useful where hoof weakness contributes to cracking, breakage, sensitive soles or repeated shoe loss. It may also support hooves during the transition to barefoot.

Key benefits:

  • Strengthens weak, brittle or cracked hoof horn

  • Helps protect soft, sensitive or thin soles

  • Supports damaged hooves as cracks grow out

  • Helps improve the security of nails in stronger hoof horn

  • Suitable for shod and unshod horses

  • Useful during transition to barefoot

  • Absorbs into the hoof rather than forming a surface coating

  • Suitable for wet and dry conditions

  • Application brush supplied

  • Size: 250 mL

  • Made in the UK

Directions for use:

Ensure the hoof is clean, completely dry and free from mud, oil, grease and hoof varnish. Apply with the supplied brush to the lower half of the hoof wall and the sole.

Avoid the coronary band, frog, bulbs of the heel and any bleeding, damaged or diseased tissue. Allow the product to dry completely before the horse is ridden, worked or returned to the paddock.

Apply daily for one week, then twice weekly for general hoof maintenance, or follow the directions on the Australian product label.

Do not use hoof oils, greases or varnishes while using Keratex Hoof Hardener, as they may prevent the product from penetrating the hoof.
