When choosing an endurance saddle pad, consider its dimensions, shaping, lining, breathability and compatibility with your saddle. The pad should extend beyond the saddle’s pressure-bearing areas without creating unnecessary bulk or interfering with the horse’s movement. Check that straps and attachment points align correctly with the saddle and girth arrangement.

Position the pad evenly and lift it into the saddle’s gullet so it does not pull tightly across the withers or spine. Long-distance work can result in significant heat, sweat and friction, so remove and inspect the pad after use. Monitor the horse for uneven sweat patterns, rubbing, tenderness or hair disturbance.

Clean the pad according to the manufacturer’s directions and allow it to dry thoroughly between uses. A saddle pad cannot correct an unsuitable or poorly fitted saddle; seek advice from a qualified saddle fitter if you have concerns about fit or pressure.
