The Walsh DeGogue is an advanced training device for use in lungeing by experienced horsepersons only.
It is designed to assist with strengthening of the neck and back muscles, to produce a balanced, rounded and more engaged quality of movement.
The de Gogue was developed by the French horseman Rene de Gogue. He theorized that poorly or unschooled horses had three points of resistance: the poll, the mouth, and the base of the neck. The triangular system was designed to release that tension. Its purpose is to encourage the horse to raise the neck, free the shoulders and engage the hocks, so that he may develop the correct muscles for a rounded outline.
